Members at Urban Prep voted unanimously to strike unless management comes to the table with a more reasonable offer. CTU pressure pushed ASPIRA to retract non-renewal notices for Union members. Epic Academy terminated four of the most active CTU members on the bargaining team, prompting members to prepare to strike. Youth Connections Leadership Academy has reversed course on closing the school. CTU pushed the General Assembly to close a loophole that allowed ChiArts and other contract schools to skip contributions to the Chicago Teachers Pension Fund.

Tenured teachers displaced between June 30, 2010 and July 27, 2012 whose final ratings were Satisfactory or better are invited to apply for newly created elementary school positions pursuant to the interim agreement between the Board of Education and the Chicago Teachers Union. Below is information provided by Chicago Public Schools’ “Chief Talent Officer,” Alicia Winkler.
These newly created positions will be posted on CPS’s Talent Office Candidate Gateway beginning Monday, July 30, 2012. You will have the opportunity to express your interest in these positions by posting for those for which you meet the qualifications no later than Friday, August 10, 2012 at 5:00 PM.
You may access these positions at https://www.cps-humancapital.org/app/. Once you log on, you must then search for the appropriate job category and within job category look for positions specifically identified as “Regular Teacher – FSD” or “Part-Time Teacher – FSD”.
If you are selected for placement into one of these positions, your placement will be conditional on your acknowledgement and agreement that your placement is on an interim basis through the first semester and that you may be displaced at the end of the semester. If you are retained at the end of the semester, you will be appointed to the position with tenure rights.
