General CTU Announcement
CHICAGO (AP) — Two prominent Chicago boards are getting new members.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has selected veteran educator Carlos Azcoitia to join the city's Board of Education. The mayor has also tapped Rodrigo Sierra to serve on the Chicago Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.
The appointments were announced Sunday in a written statement.
City officials say that the educator's years of working directly with students, teachers and principals bring an invaluable perspective to the Board.
Sierra will replace Carlos Ponce, who is stepping down after 10 years of service with the CHA board.
City officials say that Sierra's ability to lead companies through times of change will be a benefit in his role.
Azcoitia will bring more than 30 years of teaching and leadership experience to his new post.
