Things to watch out for on LSC election day

CTU members have expressed concerns regarding the LSC election at their schools. In most cases, this is due to new efforts to reinvigorate an LSC or take back the public accountability from a controlling principal. If you are at all worried about election shenanigans at your school, there are several things you can do:

LSCs can be a powerful tool for school improvement, but only if we use them

As union members, we hold power when we organize and work together in solidarity.  Making important school governance decisions — such as budgetary allocations, school policies, curriculum and principal selection — also should involve organized solidarity. Running for the Local School Council (LSC) at your school with a slate is a great way to make this happen.
