Two key CTU legislative initiatives passed through committees this week and now go to the full legislative chamber for consideration: one bill requires union neutrality agreements for charter schools and the other allows retired PSRPs to work as substitute paras.
On February 6 and 7, 2023, remote nominations meetings will be held for citywide functional groups that have delegate vacancies. If there are more candidates than vacant positions, an electronic election will be held on February 13, 14, 15 and 16, 2023.
The Union has won an appeal of an IDEAS ruling that found PSRPs whos chose to spread out their 10 month’s of wages over 12 months ineligible for unemployment. Also, please remember teacher assistants and SECAs are only allowed to be used as substitutes for up to 60 minutes and only in the case of a temporary emergency.
Our school clerks have been receiving emails letting them know that they are eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations. Once again, your solidarity is moving CPS leadership to do better by our rank-and-file members!

Nominations to fill Citywide Teacher, PSRP and Clinician Delegate vacancies will be held at the Chicago Teachers Union, 1901 W. Carroll Avenue on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 and Wednesday, January 15, 2020.
Schools can’t function properly without PSRPs, yet despite all they do, we too often forget to tell them “Thank You.” So let’s tell them today, thank you!
