The CTU finalized this fall a Memorandum of Understanding with CPS that will increase our ability to add members to the Union.
Members have seen CTU Lead Organizer Tennille Evans whipping up the crowd and belting out chants and songs in her beautiful, powerful voice at union rallies, events and parties. She uses that booming voice to empower members to stand up for themselves.
Lashawn Wallace began her career as an instructional aide at Dett Elementary and thought she wanted to become a teacher. But after attending a CTU meeting, she realized organizing was her passion.
CPS just finished the 16th LSC election cycle in the 32 years since the creation of the Local School Councils — and it was a year of firsts. But the news isn’t all good, as some schools experience difficulty attracting candidates to serve.
CTU delegates were sent this message with the goal of ensuring that organizing continues, even as members work remotely.
