Passing bills in the General Assembly is never easy — as our 10-year fight to win an elected school board shows — but it is an even harder lift during the two-week fall veto session. That is why I am thrilled to report success this year on three pieces of key legislation that your support and advocacy helped pass during the just-completed fall session.
After a year of challenges, LSCs came out strong in the fight against the unsafe, reckless CPS reopening plan.
Congrats to all the new LSC members! Thanks to all for stepping up and working with parents and community leaders to ensure that our schools are empowered to effectively govern and fight for the schools our students deserve. We have a lot of work ahead of us, and CTU is here to help you every step of the way!
The 2020 LSC elections are taking place during report card pick-up for elementary on Wednesday, November 18 and for high school on Thursday, November 19 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This election has obviously been hampered by the COVID-19 crisis, but CPS has also not handled it well.
