The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is considering changes to the state assessment system. Despite ISBE’s intent to make positive changes to assessment, the proposed changes would expand testing. They’re taking input from educators now. Make your voice heard!

General CTU Announcement
STRIKE READY: Organizing to win for our students and our schools! We’re fighting for fair contracts that bring more staffing and better conditions for our teaching and learning. At the same time, we’re fighting for the respect and school stability that can only come with fair pay, strong health care and good benefits. We need to not only win these contracts, but enforce them, too. Above all, that means organizing for unity and courage in every school, as well as leveraging the resources that union staff bring to the table. All CTU members—especially PPC, PPLC, LSC members, CTU delegates, CTU-ACTS building reps, Teacher Evaluation Liaisons, retired CTU members, and all CTU members interested in helping to organize their school or department—are strongly encouraged to attend. The Thursday, March 7 training is open to all. However, delegates are especially encouraged to pool their contractually established delegate preps for release with pay on this date. You must register on or before February 22, 2019, in order to pool your preps. So, join with CTU members and school building leaders to learn and share skills needed to fight for our contract and to enforce the rights we’ve won.
