As you know, in our 2019 contract we won language stating that members who regularly interpret in IEP meetings are eligible for a $500 stipend per semester. But we recently learned that CPS is making the interpretation process during IEP meetings much more difficult.
If you have interpreted or will interpret for IEP meetings you are eligible for a $500 stipend. Get guidance on this 2019 contract win here.
CPS may owe you $500 if you acted as language interpreter at least three times over the course of the semester. The funds come from downtown and do not pull from your school’s budget. Your principal needs to complete the CPS IEP Interpreter stipend form in order to apply.
The Joint CTU/CPS Bilingual Committee met recently and were informed that administrators received an IEP stipend survey on 1/26/22 for them to fill out with names of folks in their building that have been translating at IEP meetings for fall of 2021. CPS stated that administrators should be reaching out to staff to confirm their eligibility so that they can receive the stipend.
The deadline in 2020 is Friday, June 12 for stipends won in our latest contract for language interpreters in IEP meetings.
