CPS school buildings need a lot of work — $2 billion in upgrades by the district’s own assessment — for the sake of our students and our environment and piecemeal repairs are not enough. With the help of CTU’s Climate Justice Committee, the union has launched a new citywide campaign to fight for clean, green, and fully resourced schools.

Lauren Bianchi was in a pre-nursing track at University of Illinois-Chicago in 2012 when the CTU went on strike, an action that influenced her to decision to become an educator. She saw teachers fighting for systemic changes and wanted to be a part of that movement.
