There are six (6) Elementary School Teacher Functional Vice President vacancies to fill unexpired terms on the CTU Executive Board. Per the CTU Constitution, the vacancies will be filled by nominations and elections held in the House of Delegates. Read the procedures for this election here.
This letter was mailed by United States Postal Service, dated November 4, 2022, to all members of the retired group of the Chicago Teachers Union and was emailed to all retired members whose email address was accepting CTU emails on this date, Friday, November 18, 2022.
These procedures for the 2023 election of the Retiree Functional Vice President are posted in accordance with the CTU Constitution and By-laws.
One Trustee position on the CTU Executive Board was recently vacated. The Executive Board will fill the vacancy, subject to the approval of the House of Delegates.
At the June 2 House of Delegates meeting, Norma Noriega of Stevenson ES, Lori Torres of Monroe ES and Aisha Wade-Bey of Lawndale CA won seats on the Executive Board as functional vice presidents representing elementary school teachers. Congratulations to them and to all the members who stepped up to run.
Seven members were nominated for Functional Vice President of Elementary School Teachers at the May 5, 2021 House of Delegates meeting. At the June 2, 2021 House of Delegates meeting, all voting delegates who are members of the Elementary School Teachers functional group may vote for three candidates to fill three Functional Vice President of Elementary School Teachers vacancies on the CTU executive board.
At the November 4, 2020, House of Delegates meeting, all delegates in the High School Teachers functional group will vote between David Arredondo and Michael Smith to fill the one High School Teachers Functional Vice President vacancy on the Executive Board.
