  1. Delegate** posts notice of vacancy and announces when a nominations meeting is to take place. This meeting should be conducted remotely on Google Meet, Zoom, or similar remote platform.
    1. The delegate must send an e-mail to all CTU members eligible to vote at the school a notice for the meeting that includes a link or simple instruction for how to join the meeting.
    2. The Notice of Nominations and Election for School Delegate must be sent at least 15 calendar days prior to the date of the remote nominations meeting. The date of the remote election, if necessary shall be no less than five (5) days and no longer than ten (10) day after the remote nominations meeting. The duration of the remote election shall be two (2) business days. The delegate shall send a reminder notice of the remote delegate’s election three (3) calendar days prior to the vote.
    3. The Delegate should copy the CTU Membership Department on the e-mail announcing the remote meeting.
  2. At the remote nominations meeting,
    1. During the meeting, the Delegate shall instruct the attendees to sign in at www.ctulocal1.org/attend. Signing-in is important because if there is a dispute about what occurred at the meeting, CTU Membership Department will need to be able to contact the members who were present.
    2. During remote meeting, the delegate calls for nominees for the vacancy. Nominations must come from an eligible member—for example, PSRP members have a separate delegate structure and are not eligible to be a school delegate or to nominate a school delegate.
      1. If there is only one nominee, the delegate sends an e-mail to the Membership Department at membership@ctulocal1.org containing the name of the school, the date of the nomination meeting, a list of who attended the meeting and attests that there was only one nominee for delegate. The Membership Department will then review the material, verify the nominee’s eligibility, and certify the new delegate.
      2. If there is more than one nominee, there will be a remote, secret ballot election to determine the new delegate. The delegate sends an e-mail to the CTU Membership Department stating the name of the school, the date of the meeting, a list of who attended the remote meeting and attests to the names of the nominees for delegate. The Membership Department will then review the material, verify the eligibility of each nominee, and notify the delegate that the remote election will be held on the date posted in the Notice of Nominations and Elections of School Delegate.
  3. Procedures for remote Delegates Elections
    1. The CTU Membership Department will conduct a remote, electronic election
    2. The names’ of candidates will be randomized electronically and listed in order on the electronic ballot.
    3. Each eligible member of the CTU will receive an e-mail at the e-mail address in the CTU database. The e-mail will contain a unique link which allows the member to cast a secret vote for delegate.
    4. Voting will remain open for a period of two (2) business days.
    5. At the end of the voting period, the CTU Membership Department will verify and communicate the results to the CTU members at that school.
  • Union business must to be conducted during non-work hours. It is recommended not to use a CPS device or CPS WIFI while conducting Union business.
  • Interim delegates conduct delegate elections. If the school does not have an interim delegate, delegate elections are conducted by the associate delegate. If the school does not have an associate delegate, a representative of the CTU conducts the delegate election.
