Event will bring together educators, families and elected officials to help students say goodbye to summer and start the school year off strong

CHICAGO–On Friday, the union educators of Chicago will unite with parents, community groups, elected representatives and multiple aid organizations for the Back-2-School Summer Jam. Coming just days before the 2023-2024 school year kicks off, this year’s Summer Jam will allow students and their families to say goodbye to summer with a fun-filled, community-oriented event.

At the CTU headquarters in the West Town neighborhood, the Back-2-School Summer Jam will include school supply giveaways, free haircuts, a mobile health clinic for back-to-school health screening, free teeth cleaning for students, and much more.

With so much at stake for our students and their families this school year, this event will center the joy of learning and ensure that Chicago’s students have all the supplies, mandatory health screens and look fly for the new school year ahead.

The event will also feature healthy food demonstrations and appearances from elected officials on the local, aldermanic and state levels.
