Solidarity with our union siblings on strike at Columbia College

On Monday, CTU President Stacy Davis Gates joined the Columbia College Faculty Union for a rally on the first day of their strike — because an injury to one is an injury to us all. Professors are striking for a fair contract and better conditions for students, something CTU members understand all too well.

The dueling pandemics of COVID-19 and racial injustice and inequity have made school extremely hard for a generation of students and their educators. CPS says it is hosting public meetings inform the community gather feedback that will inform the district’s Five-year Strategic Plan. Meetings are being held Nov.1 at Julian High School, Nov. 6 at Sullivan High School, Nov. 9 at Clemente High School, Nov. 11 at Tilden High School, Nov. 14 at Harlan High School and Nov. 16 virtually. Endorsed CTPF Trustee Candidates
The Chicago Teachers Pension Fund has emailed electronic ballots for their active trustee election and mailed ballots for its pensioner trustee ballots. We know CTU members have been on the frontlines supporting our new neighbors being shipped here by right wing zealots. But you can’t do it alone — more is needed.
