The CTU is holding vaccination events this Thursday and Friday, as we have been for months, to help any unvaccinated school community members and their families get safely immunized against COVID-19. We will also have medical professionals on hand to answer any and all questions about the virus and the vaccination, to help you make a fully informed decision.SIGN UP
As you know, the CTU supports vaccines for all of our members, students and families — and we’re glad that almost 90 % of our members have done what is needed and gotten vaccinated
You’ve probably seen today’s email from CPS stating that non-vaccinated educators will need to be tested weekly or be ineligible to work and put on unpaid leave. This policy mirrors Mayor Lightfoot’s policy towards other City workers. We believe that this may have averted a dangerous staffing shortage in schools that already have too few adults to support students, concerns we raised in our letter to the mayor today.
The CTU will continue to promote vaccinations — as we have for months by demanding school-based vaccination programs at the bargaining table, and in providing our own vaccination events since last spring.
To this end, we will help our members get vaccinated on Thursday, October 14 and Friday, October 15 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at our CTU Center. We encourage you to sign up, but walk-ins will still be welcome. Bring yourself, bring your family, bring your neighbors and members of your school community.
