One of the contract wins in the wake of the CTU’s 2019 strike was an agreement that CPS would create a professional development pipeline for teachers of English Learners, including covering 50% of tuition for teachers seeking Bilingual and/or ESL endorsements.
To that end, the Office of Language and Cultural Education (OLCE) has recently announced details about how to take advantage of this program.
The first step is for candidates to attend information sessions to learn about endorsement programs from CPS’ university partners. Dates and time of those sessions are listed on the OLCE’s informational flyer.
If you are interested in one of those offerings, you will need to submit two applications, one to OLCE and one to the institution of your choice. OLCE applications will be available at end of June and will be due July 28, 2022.
OLCE will notify candidates if they are accepted for 50% tuition reimbursement in early August. If your application is accepted, OLCE will cover half of the cost of your tuition and in return, you will be responsible for covering the other half (plus other applicable fees and costs). You will need to check with each institution for details on their exact cost of their courses.
