At its September 27, 2023 meeting, a member moved the following endorsements in the 2023 Chicago Teachers Pension Fund election, which were adopted by the House.

Biographical information

Paula Barajas is a candidate for CTPF teacher trustee. Paula is a special education teacher and former CTU trustee who helped develop and oversee CTU budgets. She also has managed large grants at UIC.

Tammie Vinson is a candidate for CTPF teacher trustee. Tammie is a current CTPF teacher trustee and CTU trustee, roles where she has demonstrated keen financial stewardship of the CTPF and CTU’s finances. Tammie has also served as the chair of the AFT Black Caucus.

Lois Nelson is a candidate for CTPF retiree trustee. Lois is currently the Recording Secretary of the CTPF and a retiree trustee. She has served our members in many capacities including having served as an active trustee from 2005 to 2010. She is running again to continue her work advocating and protecting our pensions.

Mary Sharon Reilly is a candidate for CTPF retiree trustee. Mary Sharon is currently the CTPF Financial Secretary as a Retiree Trustee. Previously, Mary Sharon was a teacher trustee. Mary has served in many leadership capacities during her time as a Trustee including serving as Vice President, Financial Secretary, and as chair of multiple committees including Finance and Audit, Health Insurance, and Personnel.

Jack Silver is a candidate for CTPF retiree trustee. Jack is currently the Chair of CTU’s Pension-Insurance committee and a current CTU Executive Board member. Previously, Jack was a Teacher Trustee on the CTPF board for 15 years and served as Vice President. During that time, the fund grew from $3 billion to $10 billion. He promoted the hiring of minority and women owned brokers and money managers.
