Union advocacy secures new clinician positions for our staff-starved schools

Educators can only take so much
Reports about teacher burnout, early retirements and staff shortages stemming from the pandemic are in the news on a daily basis. Every teacher needs a Ms. Wolfolk
Tara Stamps remembers Ms. Wolfok, an old school teacher from her early days in CPS who made a big impression on her. Sadly, that’s not the case for educators starting out today.
The power of engaged members and coalitions
Passing bills in the Illinois General Assembly is never easy and it’s an even harder lift during the fall veto session. But thanks to the unity and advocacy of our members and school communities, we made important gains this year.
PSRP Corner: Let’s make every day PSRP Appreciation Day
Since 2006, the third Wednesday in November has been designated PSRP Appreciation Day. But PSRP-for-life Christel Williams-Hayes says we need to thank and honor these frontline workers every day. We could not have made it through the pandemic without them.
President’s Message: A time for reflection
The holidays are typically a time for reflection, a time to express our thanks and contemplate our vision for the new year. CTU President Jesse Sharkey writes that he’s feeling especially thankful this year for the privilege to work side by side with the dedicated, courageous rank-and-file members of the CTU.
