CTU members and staff are excited to participate in the 15th annual Trinational Conference to Defend Public Education in Oaxaca Mexico, October 7 through 10. We have amazing US, Mexican and Canadian representatives attending to share experiences about public education from our respective countries.
The Chicago Teachers Union has sent a delegation of CTU members to the Trinational for the last 15 years. Consider being a part of the delegation this year and learn about the struggles of our union and education justice counterparts in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico and Honduras.
Also, plan to hear from our amazing counterparts across the continent.
Check out the conference agenda posted on Facebook and the Facebook page for the conference.
We have the capacity to register 15 to 20 CTU members to participate in the Trinational Conference and help set the course for our future work internationally. Everyone will have to assume their own airfare and accommodation costs. However, the CTU will help our delegation fundraise to support the conference and defray registration costs.
If selected, we ask that our delegates attend preparation sessions on September 3, 10 and 17 to help understand the history of the Trinational, our Mexican hosts in Oaxaca and their struggle, and our roles / responsibilities at the conference.
Join this zoom orientation and informational session on Monday, July 11 at 5:30pm, please register for the Zoom session ahead of time.
Additionally, please fill out our interest form to desire to attend the Trinational Conference by July 25.
